Welcome to the KARA Online site. We have expanded on our original site to include some unique online resources. We're certain these will help you to start your genealogy research. Shown above are pictures taken in the main reading room of the KARA library, just a small sampling of what awaits the avid family history researcher upon arrival to our Research Centre. The KARA library contains one of the largest collections of family history material for the central-east Ontario region. Researchers and visitors to KARA are continually delighted by their discoveries of new resources on our library shelves.

We invite you to join us at our Annual Plant and Book Sale held at the KARA Research Centre - 926 High Street, Peterborough.
The date is Saturday May 26, 2012from 8 a.m. noon.

HAVE SOME PLANTS AND/OR BOOKS TO DONATE?

Are you doing a little early gardening? Splitting plants and have to some extra to donate? We're always happy to add more plants to our annual sale. Contact us or drop donataions off at KARA -please try to hold plants until the week before the sale but we'll look after them if you need to drop them off earlier.

SPRING CLEANING? If you have books to donate for our Annual Sale, please drop them off at KARA any Tuesday through Saturday afternoon during the next few weeks. Thanks for your help to make our annual fund raiser a success!

Hillside Cemetery in Lakefield. This old cemetery opened in 1886 on land purchased from the Ross Lumber Company. Located on the north edge of the village the cemetery was originally intended to replace the one that surrounded Christ Anglican Church. Later the new cemetery became a community burial ground.
